On October 15, 2024, Remontowa Shipbuilding held a ceremonial cutting of plates for the construction of the sixth in a series of modern mine destroyers of the Kormoran II type project 258. After the flag raising, the ship will take the name ORP Czajka.

PGZ Stocznia Wojenna is a member of the consortium building these vessels (together with RSB, the leader, and OBR CTM) responsible for the delivery, installation, commissioning and testing of very advanced special systems:

– Navigation and Technical Observation System,
– Integrated Communications System and Crypto,
– Data Communication Networks,
– Weapon systems (including the OSU-35 cannon).

Kormoran II-type mine destroyers are essential for ensuring the maritime security of Poland and our allies. They are modern and versatile vessels capable of detecting, identifying and destroying sea mines at various depths, as well as conducting reconnaissance and patrol operations. The ship, whose construction has just begun, will in the future become part of the 12th Wolin minesweeper squadron of the 8th Coastal Defense Flotilla.
